Lin's Kinilaw in Misamis Oriental: Back Riding and Boodle Fight Evening

Riding in the back of a pickup truck doesn't look glamorous and lady-like at all but what the heck, it's fun! Life feels less restricted and the rider more carefree. You can see the road at a different angle and you see everything in panorama. The heat of the sun licks your skin and the cool wind blows every strands of your being and mess your hair as the vehicle pick up speed. Ahh, it makes me feel young again and the world becomes my playground. But of course, I'll only do that in rural places where nature seems to thrive more than commerce such as Laguindingan in Misamis Oriental. my hometown.

Laguindingan is fortunate to be blessed by nature. Beaches, mountains and forests surrounds the area.

Five years from now, things will certainly change. For sure, when that time comes, no traces of the dusty, rustic and provincial life will be recognized. And the place would start to feel like Manila, a place that I love and hate at the same (I never thought it could be possible but it is). A back ride by then would sound danger than fun.

The photo above was taken while we were heading to a new restaurant called Lin's Kinilaw in Libertad, another municipality in Misamis Oriental.

We arrived at Lin's famished. It feels like a long ride from Laguindingan. We had to pass several municipalities and some road constructions. Nevertheless, the ride was worthwhile because the dinner was awesome. Thanks to Tito Dadoy, the incumbent Vice Mayor in Laguindingan, who scheduled it all and made this mini-reunion possible. He officially announced that he is running for mayorship.

THE PLACE

The restaurant is located along the highway--quite easy to find. It's 42.9 km from Centrio Mall, Cagayan de Oro and 17.6 km from Laguindingan Airport.

The restaurant is decent. It looks very festive with its colorful banderitas. You can smell the beach as we entered the place as the resto was facing the sea. Too bad it was already dark when we arrived, I wasn't able to get a picture of the beach. We are going back anyway, I'm sure I'll be able to get some good pictures anytime soon.

As we stepped in, we were greeted with their menu and food displayed the carenderia-style.

Once you've ordered, you may choose to dine outside in their tiki huts where you can have a closer feel of the beach or if you want to take a dip while waiting for your order.

THE FOOD

Everything looks delicious to a hungry woman. I ate with much gusto, tasting everything that was laid on the table.

Since we were a battalion of 20 hungry people, the fiesta boodle meal was a perfect choice.

The food seems familiar to southern eaters. But, what stood out for me was the simple seafood soup in coconut milk.

Overall, the meal was good. I would love to go back and see what else they offer.
