Avelinus, Angeles City: Cheap, Delicious And Deadly Food To Go
We belong in a generation where people are running after time even if it is not running away from us. We do a lot of things everyday that many of us feel that 24 hours is not just enough. To some of us, we work 8-10 hours a day. Then we spend like 1-2 hours for commuting or transportation, 2-3 hours for our chores and errands, and another 2-3 hours for Me-time, watching TV, social networking, and etc. We are left with approximately 6 hours for sleep. Then, we wake up the following morning feeling tired, sluggish and simply do not want to get up and work.
Just to keep up with the demands of our time, we take the shortest route on things. That said, we choose what's convenient. Perfect example of which is buying our meals instead of cooking. Instead of spending 30 minutes to one hour in preparing, chopping and cooking, it takes several minutes to simply order from fast foods, food stalls or restaurants. Sometimes, our food choices are unhealthy because we rather choose what is more accessible.
One of my recent discovery, which is basically not for those resident within the area of Barangay San Jose in Angeles City is the artery-clogging food from Avelinus. I don't intend to malign the store but seriously, the food is not good for the health-conscious especially to those with high blood pressure.
Avelinus offers inexpensive, mouthwatering grubs that will bring your cholesterol level to a higher notch. And like buying in carenderia, food stall or fast food, they can have your order at the counter in matter of minutes. Unless, of course, you came during their peak hours which is during lunch and dinner where you could catch a long queue.
You can buy food like lechon kawali, pork sisig, tokwa't baboy (tofu and pork), and baked macaroni for just Php50. Don't expect the pork sisig to be of the same quality with Aling Lucing's and the baked mac with Toll House. The food are good enough for Php50. It's cheap. But most of all, it cuts the time you are supposed to spend in the kitchen.
They hand your ordered food in styrofoam with a sauce.
As I've heard, Avelinus is a family business. Their staff seems to be family members. And it looks like their business originate from Magalang as a seller of home-made empanadas.
