Quenching the Summer Heat: Kabigting's Halo Halo

Ah, that time of the year has rolled around once more, and with it comes the relentless embrace of summer's scorching heat. The sun's rays feel like they're orchestrating a symphony of discomfort, pushing temperatures to an overwhelming 38.5 degrees Celsius in Manila, with other regions sizzling at a staggering 41 degrees Celsius. Goodness gracious, it's unbelievably hot!

The temptation to blast the air conditioner is ever-present, but the looming specter of a heart-stopping electricity bill forces a reluctant acceptance of the heat. The struggle is real.

In times like these, the thought of a cold halo-halo becomes a beacon of relief. Picture it – a refreshing concoction to soothe the soul. My inaugural taste of summer in 2018 was at Kabigting's in Angeles City, and let me tell you, it was a revelation. The halo-halo danced on my taste buds with its delightful blend of flavors, providing a welcome respite from the sweltering sun.

If you haven't savored the goodness of Kabigting's Halo-Halo, you're missing out. It defies the conventional halo-halo expectations, boasting only mashed beans, pastillas, cream corn, evaporated milk, and ice. Despite its minimal ingredients, this creation is a creamy, tasty masterpiece that, in my opinion, reigns supreme in the realm of halo-halo.

Notably, even Erwan Heussaff, the connoisseur himself, has crowned it the best halo-halo. You can witness his verdict in his video titled "The Best Halo Halo (Halo Halo History)."

The story of Kabigting's traces back to the 70s when it started as a humble carenderia in Arayat, Pampanga. Over time, it gained fame for one thing – its utterly delicious halo-halo.
