Exploring Laguindingan: Trek to Tambo Falls

A certain magic is at work the moment we hear the sound and see gushing waters. Our worries and troubles seem to fade away.

In my hometown Laguindingan in Misamis Oriental, there is a small but beautiful waterfall located at Brgy. Sambulawan. They call it Tambo Falls.

While people are flocking to widely visited, man-made and fancy tourist destinations, some people enjoy exploring off-beaten path like this. I personally like it very much. Its rustic beauty is charming--the rugged and narrow paths, the damp areas you stepped into, the wild ferns and plants, the leaves that slap your face, the sound of the chirping birds, the swaying of the trees, and all. It is just wonderful.

Within an hour or less from the main road (Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Rd.) 30 minutes ride and 30 trek downhill, you will arrive in Tambo falls.

You will pass two rivers. The second one stands a huge baliti tree surrounded by large rocks.

Finding Tambo Falls is not difficult. You just follow the path and the waters.

.
The water is clean and cold. I wonder if there are carabaos drinking somewhere.

So we dip our sweaty bodies. We stepped on huge rocks under the water. Some portion seems too deep for me who is a midget.

In case you wanted to go to Tambo Falls, just go to Barangay Sambulawan in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

You can't find it in Google Map yet. Look for Sambulawan Barangay Hall instead, which I guess is the only landmark. Across the street, you'll see the road that will take you to Tambo Falls. Just follow the road.

That second arrow on the left is where your habal-habal driver might drop you, You can start walking downhill.
