K Cafe @ Nepo Quad, Angeles City: Superb New Dishes

My K Cafe experience has always been more than okay--it is outstanding and pleasurable. It's one of the restaurants in Angeles City that you just want to keep coming back. With great food at reasonable prices, excellent service and nice place, it's not surprising that you will instantly fall in love.

K Cafe once again blow me away with their new dishes. It is surely going to haunt me forever, wherever in the Philippines I may go. This restaurant rocks! They make the finest dessert and offer great meals. I remembered during the Pamangan event that Mrs. Miniang Pamintuan, the city mayor's wife complimented the restaurant and even mentioned the sizzling apple cheesecake.

K Cafe epitomize the modern Kapampangan culinary flair. Caren Kwong Basilio, the cafe's owner, show so much effort and passion in creating every dishes. Her new additions to K Cafe's menu are absolutely outstanding.

Asian Gambas

The first dish is called Asian Gambas (P220), which is awesome. Seriously, this dish makes me want to lick the  plate after eating the entire thing. It is very tasty. The shrimp is perfectly marinated and cook just right.

So, if you happen to be at K Cafe and you get confused on what to order, try this first. It is a good starter and it's OMG!

Pamangan Fiestang Kapampangan 2015 - Part II

In the first part of this blog post, I featured some dishes served during the Pamangan Fiestang Kapampangan that topped my personal preferences. As promised, I will be sharing more pictures to make you drool and make you want to come to Pampanga for a culinary experience.

Pampanga undoubtedly is a perfect place for both gastronomic adventure and historical tour. Hence, guests during the Pamangan Fiestang Kapampangan enjoyed eating the Kapampangan dishes while appreciating the town's rich history at the same time.

The dining area was at the second floor of the Museo ning Angeles where the Culinarium is. From there, you get a nice view of the Santo Rosario Parish Church, the plaza and Holy Angel University.

Kuliat Foundation (the organizer of Pamangan event) established the Culinary Museum in the Philippines, at the Museo ning Angeles building, to preserve and perpetuate the traditional Kapampangan culinary arts.

Hence, at the Culinarium, you will find exhibits of old Kapampangan kitchenwares.

Pamangan Fiestang Kapampangan 2015 - Part I

Pamangan Fiestang Kapampangan is a sumptuous buffet of  Kapampangan dishes set every October as part of the month-long fiesta celebration of the city. The event is a fundraiser activity by Kuliat Foundation Inc. for the benefit of the maintenance and operation of the Museo ning Angeles.

This year, I finally had the chance to join Pamangan and experience gastronomic bliss. Thanks to Caren Kwong Basilio of K Cafe who forwarded me the info about this year's event.

Pamangan showcase the culinary prowess of Kapampangans. It once again prove to the nation why it is worthy to be called as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, though there is really nothing to prove because it is evident that Kapampangan dishes stand out. With a long history of foreign influence, Kapampangan cuisine is all about perfect blend of different flavors.

I recalled what Angeles City's First Lady Miniang Pamintuan said that Angeles City may not be abundant with natural resources but it has many great talents. She was initially referring to the artists in the city but I was thinking of the culinary experts that the city breeds.

Figaro Coffee With Your Favorite Meal

Figaro Coffee Company has been serving delicious coffee to Filipino coffee lovers since 1993. From a simple kiosk in Ayala, the company has grown so much to cater the increasing market.

It started small in the past by 7 college friends. And look at it now.

I hear some people say that we should avoid doing business with family and friends because it could ruin your relationship--money could ruin the relationship. It is unfair for money to take all the blame. The reasons for doomed relationship could be something else and money issues are just the manifestation of that. Figaro, for instance, were started by friends. Surely, they encountered challenges along the way. But, I guess, they were resilient in reaching their business goals.

I am sure they have a pretty nice story to tell for potential business partners, If only we could replicate what they did with their partnership then we could also be successful with our own endeavors.

The Food

Though Figaro coffee shops are styled with European interiors, they advocate Philippine-made coffee and Filipino cuisine. The company are sourcing coffee beans from various parts of the country and they are helping Filipino coffee growers too. They serve delicious Filipino meals like tuyo, longganisa, bangus belly and beef tapa. However, if you are craving for something else, you might find something more delectable in their menu. Their glass countertop displays mouthwatering pastries and cakes too.

Last time, I had a savory meal of rice with pork tenderloin in Asian pesto (P199). It is served with a cup of delicious brewed coffee,
